The future of protein

Microbial protein from micro-organisms: the same family as the healthy bacteria in yogurt and the protein-rich yeasts in beer. Produced through fermentation: nourishing for you, lighter on the planet.

We're looking for a creative marketer

1. About the brand

We are launching a premium food supplement brand launched by Carotein, a Ghent-based biotech company founded by dr. ir. Norah Benmeridja, bioscience engineer (PhD, UGent) and MBA.

Our first product is a protein powder built on a different foundation than the rest of the category. Instead of whey or plant protein, it uses a complete, high-quality protein produced through fermentation using healthy microbes. It is naturally lactose- and dairy-free, contains prebiotic fibres for improved gut, and contains no sugar. This way, the brand is built on two pillars: cleaner health and cleaner planet.

2. Purpose of the role

The Creative Marketer is responsible for translating the brand and scientific proposition into campaigns that generate demand, and for holding the organic and paid strategy together as a single system rather than two separate channels.

This is the linking role in the marketing team. Brand and visual identity, organic content execution, paid media set-up and scientific content each sit with a dedicated person. The Creative Marketer defines what those specialists work on, why, and in what sequence.

3. What we are looking for

We are a small team, and we are aware that the standard marketing vacancy is a list of forty responsibilities across six disciplines.

What we actually want is a driving force and intrapreneur: someone who brings ideas and momentum, who does not wait for a brief, and who already has a view on what they would test in this market. The exact boundaries of the role are open to discussion. If your strength is concepting and brand direction and you would rather not manage a performance dashboard, say so and we will solve that differently. If the reverse is true, the same applies. We would rather build the role around what you do best than hand you a checklist you will half-execute.

About Norah

Norah is the founder and the scientific mind behind the product. With a PhD in bioscience engineering, she spent years studying proteins: how they are built, how your body absorbs them, and how to produce them more sustainably than classic whey or soy.

That expertise led her to microbial protein: protein from micro-organisms, made through fermentation. For Norah it isn't hype, but a logical next step: nourishing, easy to digest, and with a far smaller footprint.
